Drain Repairs
At Munster Drain we are always looking for new ways to save the customer money but still deliver a quality product. Damage to pipes can be costly to repair, especially when you have to dig down to access the damaged section and replace it.
Munster Drain’s approach to civil engineering works is always to minimise excavation where possible through the use of no-dig solutions. The company utilises a number of lining techniques to deliver effective rehabilitation of damaged or failing assets. Resulting repairs not only return the integrity of a pipe or manhole, but can provide a fully structural renovation that delivers years of renewed services.
Our skilled, professional drain repair crews carry out all drain and manhole repairs ranging from minor repairs such as replacing a gully or manhole cover up to and including the renovation of your entire drainage system.
Underground Pipe Rehabilitation
What it Involves?
A CIPP patch repair is a short length of Cure In Place Pipe (CIPP) liner, used to repair isolated defects within a pipeline.
Munster Drain Services offer patch repairs of two varieties. Using the traditional ambient cured method, or the faster UV Cured method.
- A short sleeve patch is wetted out on site and the sleeve is then wrapped around an inflatable packer.
- The packer is lowered into the relevant pipe length and winched into position, where appropriate using CCTV to aid location.
- The packer is inflated by compressed air to push the repair against the host pipe whilst the repair cures, usually at ambient temperature – the packer allows ongoing flow through its centre.
- Once the cure has completed, the packer is deflated and removed.
- A final CCTV survey is carried out to assess the repair quality and record the new condition of the pipe length.
What are the benefits of a CIPP Repair?
- Localised patch repairs to drains can smooth over displaced joints, seal cracks, holes and similar defects. It also reduces the resistance caused by such defects. The net effect of the patch is to increase the flow of solids and liquid and prevent future blockages in a problematic drain.
- The patch repair also prevents further root ingress or rodent ingress by sealing the pipe internally and restoring the structural stability to the pipe.
- Tough, strong and durable lining dramatically increases the life span of the pipe.
Manhole Repairs
The shaft is cleaned with a special nozzle delivering up to 300 bar water pressure. A winch lowers the nozzle down the shaft so a controlled effective cleaning process is achieved. The walls do not normally require any further cleaning by hand. The walls of the shaft are then inspected for defects. Any possible leaks or weak spots are rectified, using techniques such as pressurised grouting or injection grouting. The coating process is then applied. The first coat is applied and left to cure, then a second coat is applied which seals the manhole shaft. This allows for a good quality seamless surface finish.
